How to speed up recovery after illness

healthysmartlife May 24, 2021

A person who has suffered from a certain disease needs time to complete recovery. Recovering is the period between the disappearance of the main symptoms of the disease and full recovery.

Getting better after illness

In the process of recovering, the bodily functions start adjusting disturbed by the disease. This can be repairing damaged tissues, restoring the energy properties of fat cells, or creating scars after injuries, as well as adapting the body to loss of muscle.

Depending on the severity of the damage, the recovering period can have different durations. At this moment, the body is still weakened, sensitive, and can be subject to further harmful factors.

In order to have enough strength to fully recover, you need to maintain the belief that you can continue your life further. You should have hope your life will continue as before.

The fact is that the flu, cold, and covid 19 are extremely exhausting for the body, that the immune system spends a lot of energy in the fight against the virus, so doctors recommend not to rush back to an intense pace of life after recovery. It takes time for the body to recover, and it usually takes from few weeks to 3 to 4 months.

You can also speed up the process if you follow a few simple rules:

Do not overload your body

Do not continue immediately as if you were not ill. During the first two weeks after the illness, gradually load your body. You can do light things right away, but the heavier postpones for later. Also, take small breaks to rest.

Get enough sleep

The immune system needs time to restart. Immediately after recovery, doctors recommend that you go to bed every day and wake up at the same time. 8 hours of sleep is enough. And be sure to ventilate the room where you will sleep before going to bed.

Drink plenty of fluids

When a person is sick toxins accumulate in the body – waste products of the virus. As a result, a person may get tired faster, have a desire to sleep, and usually complain of a headache. To get rid of intoxication, you should drink as much liquid as possible – at least a liter and a half a day. It can be plain water, tea with lemon, or some other refreshment.

Restoration of intestinal microflora

If the person was taking antibiotics, it is necessary to renew the intestinal microflora after recovery. To do this, add fermented dairy products and fiber to your diet. Special agents, which include lactobacilli, will help return the body to normal.

How to strengthen immunity naturally

Nutrition plays a key role in the body’s recovery after an illness. The abundance of fruits, fresh vegetables, healthy herbs, and high-quality protein foods significantly improves health.

Freshly squeezed vegetable and fruit juices, cooked meat and fish, dairy products, quality green tea – must be present in your diet.

In nature, there are many plants that have anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antibacterial properties. For example, raspberries, cranberries, black currant, honey, rosehip, garlic, onions, radish, cabbage, ginger, and many other vegetables and fruits. Тake them in abundance every day.
